Victoria shore excursion FAQ

The questions cruise passengers ask most before booking.

What is the best excursion to take in Victoria, BC?

It depends entirely on how many hours you have ashore. With a short call of three to four hours, the hop-on-hop-off trolley, a pedicab tour or a 45-minute harbour boat tour keeps you close to downtown and back at the pier comfortably. With five hours or more, Butchart Gardens is the classic choice and the express shuttle handles the drive both ways. Whale watching is the highest-rated experience in Victoria but needs a solid three hours on the water plus travel time, so it suits longer calls best.

Can you visit Butchart Gardens during a cruise stop?

Yes, and it is one of the most common Victoria shore excursions. The gardens are about 45 minutes north of Ogden Point, so you need a round-trip shuttle rather than a taxi. The Butchart Gardens Express Shuttle picks up at the terminal, runs roughly four hours door to door and starts around $44 USD. You want at least a five-hour window, and evening arrivals should check garden closing times before booking.

What can you do in Victoria if your ship arrives in the evening?

Plenty. Victoria's late calls suit the one-hour Old Town and Bastion Square ghost tour and the 45-minute Inner Harbour boat tour. Both run after dark, start downtown, and need between two and four and a half hours including the walk or taxi from Ogden Point.
